Monthly Archives: November 2012
The lifts began turning Saturday, and the Resort is OPEN for Winter 2012-13! Here’s a look back at Opening Day: from our die hards who staked out First Chair in the dark; to this year’s proud t-shirt winners; to the season’s first turns and jibs; and the snow blessing in the Resort Plaza performed by members of the Norther Ute Tribe.
We’re excited for another great winter here at the Resort, and can’t wait to see you out here whenever you decide to make your own Opening Day at Park City Mountain Resort!
The snow is here, the groomers are making their rounds and the lift line mazes are ready to get put in place. Just a few finishing touches before we turn the lifts on for Opening Day this Saturday!
Here’s the plan for the big day: PayDay, First Time, 3 Kings and the two conveyor lifts located in the “Learner Zone” will begin turning promptly at 9 a.m Saturday. PayDay lift will service beginner and intermediate terrain on Homerun and Treasure Hollow runs. 3 Kings will access Quicksilver with over 10 jibs and a jump. First Time and the two conveyor lifts will service beginner terrain.
But that’s just the beginning: at noon, our friends with the Northern Ute Tribe perform a traditional snow blessing in the Resort Plaza. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend! After you’re gotten your first runs of the season, local Park City band, Muddpuddle, plays an apres concert in the Plaza from 1-3 p.m. Feel like washing down your day with a bev outside with the band? We’ll have a beer garden set up by the stage for you to unwind and celebrate the new season.
We’ve also got some perks for you early birds: free donuts, coffee and hot chocolate will be served in the Resort Plaza Opening Day morning, and the first chairs to depart each of the three running lifts can wear their pride all day with our limited edition “First Chair 2012-13” t-shirts.
We’ll also have the Alpine Coaster and the Flying Eagle Zip Line running. Legacy Sports will be open and stocked with great new gear for the season; and Kristi’s Coffee Cafe, Legacy Cafe, and Legends Bar & Grill will also be open to serve guests.
Need gear or want professional help brushing off the rust? Park City Mountain Rentals will be up and running, and all our ski and snowboard school services will be offered (with the exception of Ladies Club).
One final reminder: Friday, November 16 is the last chance for guests to purchase Benefit Days lift tickets: these specially priced $25 lift tickets are valid beginning Opening Day through December 16. Proceeds benefit the Park City Mountain Resort Legacy Fund, supporting nonprofit organizations in Summit County, Utah. Tickets must be purchased in-person at the Resort’s ticket office, maximum of four to a person, and will not be sold after Friday, November 16.
We’ve got our plans in place. All we need is you to come and celebrate another winter season with us!
Greetings Friends, Well it seems mother nature is hiking up her skirt and kicking some serious butt. While the East cries “uncle”, out west the mood was lighter. Winter enthusiasts cheered when a huge wet system swept into the western states. Almost four feet of snow has fallen in the mountains of Utah. The outdoor community dusted off skis, snowboards and snowshoes in anticipation of a better winter season than last year. As I write, the sound of explosives are echoing across the mountains as the ski patrols do their avalanche mitigation. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope the pacific storms keep churning.
